February 4, 2025 – The Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) proudly honored the late Dr. Gary Sears of Hyannis, Nebraska, with its most prestigious recognition, the Veterinarian of the Year Award. Presented posthumously, the award was accepted by his brother, Dr. Jim Sears, on January 31 during the NVMA Celebration of Veterinary Medicine Awards Luncheon in Kearney, Nebraska. This distinguished award is reserved for NVMA members who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the veterinary profession, the NVMA, and their community. News from AVMA Summer Meeting - Congratulations to Dr. Tracy Kelliher, NVMA Delegate for the AVMA! Dr. Kelliher has been elected to serve on the House Advisory Committee for the AVMA. It’s that time of year again for the NVMA to request volunteers to assist at the Nebraska State Fair Birthing Pavilion. As our public relations chair, I invite you to consider spending time with your colleagues while educating the public on animal husbandry and health. There is a link to sign up for a time slot(s). We are encouraging all veterinarians and their health care team members to participate.
