Gaines Family Veterinary Technology Scholarship

The NVMA Centennial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. invites you to make application for for the Gaines Family Veterinary Technology Scholarship.

Your application, completed forms, and all requested documents must be returned by online submission (the online form is at the bottom of this page).

Eligibility

ANY APPLICANT FOR THE VETERINARY TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Students having completed 2 semesters of veterinary technology education.
  • Graduate of a Nebraska High School or State of Nebraska approved Home School Program.
  • The applying student must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
  • Enrolled in one of these accredited programs:
    • Northeast Community College—Norfolk, NE
    • Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture—Curtis, NE
    • Iowa Western Community College—Council Bluffs, IA
  • Career intention to practice small animal medicine/surgery/rehab within a 75-mile radius of Omaha, Nebraska
Method of Selection
  • Completed online application form.
  • Three recommendation forms from:
  • Copy of applicant’s official transcript showing GPA – Must include spring semester grades. May be uploaded at the links at the bottom of this page.
  • All applications must be received by August 1st.
  • Selection to be made by the Scholarship Committee with consideration given to financial need, academics, and extra-curricular activities.
  • Notification of scholarship winner(s) will be made by September 1st.
Allocation of Funds
  • Normally all scholarship grants to be given once a year.
  • Each scholarship grant will be a minimum of $1,000.
  • Scholarship grants will be based on available funds and the decision of the Committee.
  • Checks will be made out to the Student and College attending.
