Each conference registrant will receive a Deadwood Passport in with registration. Learn the history of Deadwood and win awesome prizes while having a great time! The Deadwood PastPort allows you to use the trolley for free. Visit the many locations between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. Once you’ve filled your PastPort, return it to the Deadwood Information Center to receive your “sweet” reward.

Do you have adventure in your blood? If so, you won’t want to miss the NVMA Trail Ride hosted by Cambridge Technologies. You can rent a vehicle or bring your own. Cambridge Technologies is graciously sponsoring $100 off the first 15 rentals. The trail ride will include drinks and snacks along the way. Registration required and deposit must be received to reserve a vehicle.
The Trial of Jack McCall

Based on the impromptu trial which actually took place in the mining camp of Deadwood after “Crooked Nose” Jack McCall murdered James Butler “Wild Bill” Hickok. The play follows the Shooting of Wild Bill and capture of Crooked Nose Jack in front of the Saloon No. 10. This family-friendly show utilizes members of the audience to participate in the performance.
A private performance for NVMA Summer Conference attendees is included in conference registration and guest registration ticket. Additional tickets may be available by contacting the NVMA office.
Black Hills Mining Museum – You don’t want to miss the Black Hills Mining Museum located in the mile high city of Lead. The non-profit educational corporation is dedicated to the preservation of the rich mining heritage of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Numerous exhibits and displays show the life of a miner, the ethnic history of Lead, and the gold mining history and science future. Admission fee not included in registration.
DC Booth Fish Hatchery – Established in 1896, D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery and Archives, formerly Spearfish National Hatchery, is one of the oldest operating hatcheries in the country dedicated to fish culture and resource management. The Hatchery is located within the town of Spearfish, just a short drive from Deadwood.
Mickelson Trail – One of the most historic and scenic rails to trails conversions in America! Grab your bicycle, or rent one in town, and enjoy the George S Mickelson Trail. The Mickelson Trail transports you to a quiet world, into the heart of the landscape. In the summer months, this world is lush and inviting, the countryside is dotted with wildflowers and the air is alive with birdsongs. The trail does require the purchase of a pass and is estimated to be 4-hour ride.
Crazy Horse Memorial – A short drive from Deadwood, the largest sculpture in the world, Crazy Horse Memorial, is located five miles north of Custer and about seventeen miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial.
Deadwood Original Tour – The oldest and foremost tour company provides a narrated tour of Deadwood, Tatanka, and Mr. Moriah Cemetery. The most informative, entertaining, hour-long tour of Deadwood and Mt. Moriah Cemetery you’ll find! Tours are Thursday – Tuesday at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
