On Tuesday Speaker Scheer distributed a memo that outlines procedural modifications for the remaining 17 days of the 2020 legislative session. When Senators return to the chamber on July 20, they will find Plexiglass barriers and greater spacing between assigned seats. All senators, staff, lobbyists, and members of the public are encouraged to wear a mask, including when walking in hallways, standing in the Rotunda, and visiting offices. Access to the legislative chamber will require passing a temperature check and be restricted to Senators and key staff. Members not passing the temperature check or displaying other COVID symptoms can participate in the debate from the east balcony, where a microphone has been installed. The south balcony will be reserved for Senators wishing to observe debate with greater distance. The Sergeant at Arms will not be delivering notes from lobbyists or members of the public – so texts and calls will be our new normal.
We were happy to hear that Senator Mike Moser of Columbus is now at home and doing better. He had been hospitalized for 5 weeks with COVID. He recently shared details about his battle with the Columbus Telegram.
